This app is absolutely fantastic. If you are in the business of providing services that need various methods to communicate and track spending. I would like to see an implementation of a walking to do list very similar to the one that company can has.
Now all daily logs added will time stamp 7 hours previous to actual time. This is causing major issues with the proper order of latest daily logs. For example. I add a daily log now, the weather time stamp is correct, but the actual log stamp would show Sunday 1/2/25 11:48pm. This new update did not fix the issue. Please resolve asap. iPhone 15 Pro Max iOS 18.3
We run a small commercial construction company and decided to invest in a software to streamline and manage our business processes. BuilderTrend was quick to get us on the phone, explain the software and its functionality with a demo, and answer our questions. It seemed like a great investment! Once we purchased the license and paid in full to get the annual discount - $5,000 - we began implementation. Shortly after working with the software for a few weeks, we realized it is NOT for COMMERCIAL BUSINESS like it was advertised. This tool is for RESIDENTIAL ONLY. We were told BuilderTrend has functionality that this software simply does not have and our account manager flat out lied to us about what it could do. Working with the implementation team and customer service, we tried to find work-arounds; there were none. When we requested a refund and explained why, they adamantly refused…our company believes in fair-and-square business practice; BuilderTrend obviously does not. Just another case of how “doing the right thing” is almost impossible to come by in business. Find your software solutions somewhere else.
Had this app for a few years now but only the past two weeks it suddenly logs me off and says session expired whenever I tried to open it. Updated, deleted, redownloaded, and nothing worked. I need this for my job and this stupid app is screwing me over

The application always freezes both on mobile devises and on the tablets. Have had to use the web browser due to this and they can’t seem to get it right. Frustrating when you have information typed up and the app freezes or doesn’t save correctly. Waste of useful resources that the developer needs to get right.
We just added a 20x10’ pergola to our back patio. Not only was the work done with precision and professionalism but it was great to dialog with the workers and the company. I’ll be using them again in the future ! Great work and the pergola looks gorgeous !
Over the last 6 months I have trialed every conceivable Project Management tool. Some are OK, but leave out the most important parts that are needed desperately. Also, some are like playing concentration game and have dark rabbit holes. This program is easy for everyone from the laborer to my project manager. It's simple but all inclusive. Buildertrend will do anything you ask of it. The most time consuming part is the set up. Plugging in all of the info. But after that it's on mostly auto. That is ultimately what is needed! If your missing text messages, can't remember what email that document is in. This is an absolute must have, period.

This app is ridiculously frustrating. It never sends notifications, it doesn’t update messages and daily logs in a timely fashion, and it logs me out constantly. Because it doesn’t allow two people to be linked to the same customer account, I have to use my husband’s login info, but since the app logs me out at least once a day it means constantly bugging him for the email code to log back in. Even if I close the app and reopen—and sometimes even if I delete the app and then download it again—daily logs and messages often don’t update, so I won’t see them until possibly the next day. This makes it difficult to keep up with communications and changes in our production schedule. I can’t wait until our project is complete so I can delete this app and never use it again.
Daily Logs are completely unusable on IPad. I can’t edit logs and the new layout on daily logs is horrible. Will continue to keep this 1 star rating until it’s fixed. Also, searching in daily logs for keywords searches all logs from every address my company is building not just the house I’m searching under. Totally horrible update. 7/19/24
Features of the app are great. However, it’s very frustrating to constantly log on to the app with user credentials and password even though Face ID is enabled. And having to constantly verify credentials through email. Otherwise, the app gets 5 stars but 1 star with this bug not being fixed.
Stop signing me out, really annoying when I need to view plans. Also crashes a lot, idk why
My contractor uses this and I hate this app. It’s terrible. It’s not user-friendly and I have to login all the time and I’d rather have Face ID and every few times it will do it, but I have to login more often than I want to. It’s just a terrible app all the way around, for a customer of the contractor.
This app since the update keeps logging my account out every time I close the app and open it. On top of that the app also turns off the face scan id feature to log in every time I am signed out. Very frustrating
This app used to be very helpful for coordinating with my contractor, but now I find that I avoid using it. It’s too difficult to find anything anymore. Right now I have no idea if I have any outstanding invoices because I can’t find that in the interface anymore. To get to Messages you now have to go under the More tab, which seems odd. It used to be on the home page. I very, very, very often run into bugs with this app, like it saying that I have no job selected after selecting a job, and then the link to select a job says there are no jobs, but if I go under the More tab I can see all the jobs. Also, every time I start a new job with my contractor I have to contact Buildertrend support to fix my account because it completely breaks. Every single time.
The developers of the app need to actually try using it as a homeowner. Completed verification of bank credentials, have it available as a payment method, have the method selected for payment, and when I select “Pay” it says “Error No Payment method selected”. Website is equally dysfunctional. Instead of displaying the weather forecast, perhaps focus on making sure people can send payments? From a client perspective, it seems like payment processing should be the most critical, easy to use, and best tested feature in the app.
I’m loving it.
If I have low signal, ever, after uploading pictures and updates for one project, I have to delete and reload the app, or completely shut down my phone and restart it. Once the phone is back on or the app is reloaded, it will work for one project, then it will freeze up again.
first place i’ve worked where builder trend is being almost fully utilized. i’m still learning everything we can do with it. loving using the time clock, daily log per job and attaching photos to the log
Change Orders never load. Always says “Failed to load”.
This is typical of many computer related issues, they give an error with no solutions, or options to navigate. Definitely needs improvement
Just reloads, resets, reloads, but never allows logins using Chrome, Safari, or the App
I used to love the buildertrend app. I could see recent photos, recent updates, my job cost, pending change orders etc all from one place. Now I cannot see anything unless I click, and my job cost is totally gone. It makes no sense and seems to have regressed a ton. I work on a product team for my day job and I can’t believe this redesign was passed through the ranks.
I loved this app. We are doing a remodel and our builder uses the app. The reason I knocked it down is the new version no longer shows you the running total of the job and how much you have paid (I now have to go to the web version to see that information) and the new interface isn’t nearly as intuitive to use as the previous versions. Real bummer as now only the web version is really effective.
On my home screen when I login now - it’s shows: Label, label, label at top. It just looks super clunky and disorganized now compared to earlier this year.
I haven’t even opened up all the potential but it’s already helping so much!
It has wasted time as the app does not allow you to actually follow a stream of thought and show the information back and forth. If anything it shows up in e-mails and we don’t see all of those, but information seems to be lost in translation and I don’t always get notified about all info and where to actually locate the random messages. The system haphazardly puts things in multiple places and makes it really hard to find and not obvious where things are located. I am really frustrated with this app and how it is laid out!!! It does not appear to be worth the money at all. Maybe not even if it was free.
App crashes every time I try and use it since upgrading to IOS 17. I hope a fix comes out soon!
Builder Trend is great. The mobile app and desktop app both are easy to use and help keep projects organized and on-schedule.
Super clunky user payment interface. Needs help from a functionality standpoint and using normal internet norms.
When completing daily logs it takes several minutes to upload only a couple of photos. Many times when uploading only 5-6 photos only half upload. Then in order to add the other photos it’s takes another several minutes. The time to upload doesn’t matter if connected to wi-if or using phone data
My company uses this and they live by it. However, it’s super frustrating as a end user! They refuse to listen to customers regarding the photo feature. The app is always crashing when trying to upload photos or they won’t upload at all if you’re not on WiFi, rendering it useless for field teams. And why can’t I select multiple photos instead of tapping them one by one. This is NOT 2003! No matter how much feedback you give them, they do the total opposite just like the typical tech weirdo! Smh
Many times I find myself sure that I clocked out as I closed the app out after adding a daily report , only to find out I had not . As of today , 4 months or 16 weeks I’ve managed to have correct time worked 3 weeks . I attribute that to this unnecessary double tap of the clock in or out . It is solely the reason I would not use if I had any other options.
I have enabled notifications for Buildertrend on the app and on my iphone but they dont work. I missed many messages due to this
The app/desk top full site version are in constant change. Every time you get used to a new change some IT person has to justify their existence and create an extra step or move a box to the other side of the screen all in the name of making it better. They don’t know their audience or don’t care. Construction workers are about getting the job done and having proven processes that don’t need to change for the sake of change. I have posted constant feedback to tech support with no results or updates that truly benefit the user. Our company processes are written around Buildertrend and their need to change or move things on the screen has negatively impacted our business on occasion. We had to shut down and revert back to paper contracts after the estimate updates they made. Most recent change was on the To-Do. Now you have to click on another tab to get to the created checklist instead of just scrolling down the screen. There is delay with the screen loading to the checklist which creates efficiency issues. Loss of time every time you go to that screen.
Very helpful program. Many useful features. If you have your subcontractors online with it, they will quickly ignore schedule updates as every time you adjust the schedule it will send them an email if you have notifications on to do so, but without them on, keeping the subcontractors updated through BT can’t be done. So a catch 22. The app is only good for on the fly items like daily logs and uploading photos. Not worth much for anything else really as you are so limited. Going through a browser is much better. And doing time cards with the geo fence is a pain in the butt if you work multiple sites as a superintendent.
Extremely confusing to use and buggy. I work with dozens of software applications and web portal platforms on a daily basis for work. This has to be the worst platform I’ve ever had to use. Navigation through the app has no evident flow, hard-to-find filters hide documents and complete projects from employees, and configuring permissions is an extremely convoluted process. The support staff stop responding after an initial generic response that most likely doesn’t solve your issue.
I’ve had nothing but problems with this app. I’m never sure if correspondence, payments, photos go through. I’ve never been able to get my bank account online. I think I’ve sent emails and I’m not sure what happens to them. It has so much promise with very little delivery. I end up hand delivering checks.

It never works properly and I waste the most time fighting with a non working system and there is absolutely no support!
We have used the platform for 3+ years. Just recently we received a letter stating our monthly cost were going to over double. The reason was we added a few new features which none of them were useful to us. We have spent countless hours trying to find a new platform, training, transferring files etc. Buildertrend is no longer competitive for smaller companies. Price gouging because they think companies are too invested to change.
They will spam you to death once they have your number
This is is clearly built only with the contractor in mind. Notifications don’t work properly for you as a client, the app is clunky, and it’s essentially using emails to communicate with your contractor. This has been the worst experience to resolve issues.
This App is for one way communicating only! Fine for builders. Useless for clients of builders. Do not recommend as effective tool to support managing a build project.
I like the app, however I can’t get it to provide notifications. All notifications are enabled as well as in my settings, but I don’t get any push notifications. Please fix!
Professional software tester here. Clunky UI, difficult to understand navigation of Selections, no option for user to easily add alternatives. Haven’t even started the remodel yet and already frustrated due to this software.
